Day 1 | Special Short Certificate Course on Maritime & Marine Insurance Law
The Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS), a member of CMI – Comité Maritime International is delighted to share highlights from Day 1 of the Special Two-Day Short Certificate Course on “Introduction to Maritime & Marine Insurance Law and Admiralty Practice,” held on 7–8 August 2026 in collaboration with the Department of Law, East West University, with MCLaw Services Ltd as Technical Partner.
The programme began with an inspiring Opening Ceremony, graced by the presence of:

Their presence and encouraging words added great value to the programme and reflected the importance of building greater academic and professional engagement in maritime law, shipping and marine insurance in Bangladesh.
Following the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir (Capt. MAK) conducted the session on Introduction to Maritime Law and Admiralty Practice, drawing upon his extensive practical experience in the maritime sector.
Adv. Shweata Mishra conducted the session on Introduction to Marine Insurance and Shipping Documents, connecting legal principles with practical shipping and insurance documentation and encouraging participants to approach maritime problems through facts, documents and evidence. The Day 1 programme also included an interactive Admiralty case study and group exercise, allowing participants to work together on practical maritime issues.
It was particularly encouraging to see the enthusiasm, curiosity, teamwork and active participation of the students throughout the day.
Our objective is not simply to introduce students to another area of law, but to encourage the next generation to discover the global opportunities available in maritime law, shipping, marine insurance, P&I and international trade.
Day 1 opened the door. The maritime journey continues.

Day 2 | Successful Completion of the Special Short Certificate Course
The Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS)a member of CMI – Comité Maritime International is pleased to share highlights from Day 2 and the successful completion of the Special Two-Day Short Certificate Course on “Introduction to Maritime & Marine Insurance Law and Admiralty Practice,” organised in collaboration with the Department of Law, East West University, with MCLaw Services Ltd. as Technical Partner. The programme was held on 7–8 August 2026 at East West University.
Day 2 began with Engr. Ataur Rahman conducting an insightful session on Introduction to IMO Conventions and Implementation, providing participants with an understanding of the international regulatory framework governing shipping. This was followed by Mr. Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir (Capt. MAK) FNI FCILT FCIArb, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and President, BMLS, conducting the session on Law of Carriage of Goods by Sea and International Trade. The academic programme concluded with an examination of the participants.
The two-day programme concluded with a distinguished Closing Ceremony and Certificate Distribution, graced by the presence of:

The presence and encouraging words of our distinguished guests added immense value to the occasion and highlighted the importance of developing maritime legal education and the next generation of maritime professionals in Bangladesh.
The Closing Ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Adv. Shweata Mishra, followed by the presentation of certificates to the participants and a commemorative photo session.
Over the two days, participants were introduced to the practical and international dimensions of Maritime Law, Admiralty Practice, Marine Insurance, Shipping Documents, IMO Conventions, Carriage of Goods by Sea and International Trade, supported by case studies, interactive exercises and discussions.
