The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) issued a circular on 30 September 2025 to implement the ‘Tariff on Goods and Vessels etc. for Chattogram Port Authority 2025.’ Starting from midnight on 14 October, all vessel, container, and cargo bills are to be calculated based on the new tariff schedule.

The Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS) has served a legal notice to the Government of Bangladesh and the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), demanding the immediate cancellation of the new tariff hike at Chattogram Port.

The notice dated 13 October, 2025, was addressed to the secretaries of the Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and to the Chairman and Chief Finance and Accounts Officer of CPA.

বাংলাদেশ মেরিটাইম ল সোসাইটি (বিএমএলএস) এর সভাপতি মহিউদ্দিন আব্দুল কাদির স্বাক্ষরিত এক নোটিশ অর্থ মন্ত্রণালয়, আইন ও বিচার বিভাগ, নৌপরিবহন মন্ত্রণালয়সহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সরকারি সংস্থা ও চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে পাঠানো হয়।

নোটিশে বলা হয়, ৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৫ তারিখে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষ কর্তৃক জারি করা এবং ১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর সরকারি গেজেটে প্রকাশিত এসআরও নং ৩৬৪-আইন/২০২৫ অনুযায়ী বন্দর সেবার ওপর আরোপিত বর্ধিত শুল্ক অবিলম্বে বাতিল, প্রত্যাহার ও স্থগিত করতে হবে। অন্যথায় জনস্বার্থে আদালতে মামলা করা হবে।

Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman said, ‘Chittagong Port will enter full digitalization era by next February, for which everyone will have to be technologically advanced.’

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the World Maritime Day cele-brated for the first time in the port city of Chittagong.
