Introduction:
Maritime law plays a pivotal role in regulating the global shipping industry, which is a cornerstone of international trade and commerce. Bangladesh, a riverine nation with a rich maritime tradition, has always played an important role in regional and international commerce. Historical chronicles, like as those written by the 14th-century explorer Ibn Battuta, emphasize the importance of ports like Chittagong and Sandwip as hubs of shipbuilding and commerce throughout the Sultanate and Mughal periods. The maritime law of Bangladesh serves as the fundamental framework for its relation with river and sea, regulating many aspects such as shipping, livelihood of costal people, marine conservation, and resource management. As Bangladesh continues to expand its maritime sector through policy development, infrastructure enhancement, and legal reforms, there is a pressing need to equip professionals with fundamental knowledge of maritime law, the shipping industry, and admiralty practice.
